This should be an easy one, what type of gravel should I be using to make a base to put my shed on? The local supplier can give me anything I want from their pit. I plan to put doun about 6" and compact it, then the city requires presure treated 6X6's.

I did the same thing about 2 years ago for my shed. I used 3/4 inch crushed stone. It is more than gravel but it drains well, does not need to be compacted, just lightly tamped, and is not subject to frost heave. Don't go larger than 3/4 inch. The 1 inch and 1 1/4 inch are a pain to shovel and grade.

Good Luck!

Some companys offer a bank run, crushed gravel which compacts as well as crushed stone, but is usually a little less expensive.
