Got my new PC, Intel Core i5 750 8GB RAM, nVidia quadro FX1700, on XP64 (win7 64 downgrade for now) - I posted previously when 2010 would run on my old processor.

Still on 2009 for now.
I have some issues that I'll refer to as automatic geometry dumbing.
A sketch in my assembly model, which is complex as its a messy imported dwg, is visible in my drawing. when I zoom in close the sketch vanishes. It vanishes at a bigger zoom if I am displaying a more complex part of the sketch. It makes it very difficult to work with.

Also, perhaps related, when I open the drawing always <View> hide all types is checked (and in the assembly too).
Why is that? That's not what I want!

Been winding all the performance related settings up and down to no avail. My VAR had a copy and says it displays fine on his machine. Tried software opengL - no difference.

The FX1700 is running the last certified XP64 driver - 6.14.11.8246

any ideas?

thread559-265532 refers to graphics issues caused by the nVidia settings. Could this be the case with your machine as well?

I have an old Xeon CPU running XP64 with 8gb ram and a Quadro FX3500 card. I've been running this system for a couple of years.

I think I am having the exact same issue as you with sketches; they do have to be fairly complex, but not necessarily imported.

I'm currently running 2009SP5.0, but I've been having this issue for a good while. I have made sure I have the recommended graphics card driver from the SW website, but I haven't checked for an update for a while.

As for the "hide all types" problem, do you know if large assembly mode is being triggered? If you go to Options>System Options>Assemblies, is the box ticked and what is the threshold? I have mine set at 5000 as we tend to use assemblies with lots of simple parts

I seem to have started a a second thread discussing the vanished sketch on zoom issue - I found upgrade to the latest SP5.1 solved it.

The hide all types issue was as you pont out, large assembly mode being triggered.
