I am trying to recall the commercial name of the putty stuff you would put on a bulkhead of a chamber to help seal ambient air from entering via pass-thru.

Any one recall the name of that stuff?

Thanks

Vacuum grease or "bell jar" grease? Or do you mean the stickier black stuff that the EB microscope guys use? Monkey s*** was the term, but I've no idea what the material actually was. Likely a type of butyl gum (uncured) rubber, but that is a complete WAG.

bimr,

That is what I was looking for!
Thanks!!

btrueblood,

We call it that also, but with my handle, I would be begging for the smart alecks like me to come out of the woodwork.

Thanks All,

What bimr came up with was what I was looking for.
