Hi,

I just would like to know if you think my modelling is good :

Its my first use of abaqus and I have to study a I-beam, with a load of 80 kilos on the upper face.
I would like to compare with Catia analysis

I did a sketch in a Shell-planar.
I did a solid homogeneous section
I put an encastre on the lower face
I put a 11765 Pa load on the upper face ( 80*10/(200*340) *10^6 )

I submit the job.

Do you think this way is good ?

More than the stress i would like to have the displacement on the side of the face ?

what about mesh info . Anyway your problem modelling seems sratightforward and I do not see anything special that you should pay attention to.
By the way how could you past the picture onto the forum message box

what do you want to know about the mesh ?
for a picture just :

= (sample only)

You could have made the model simpler by taking quarter symmetry of the section.

"I would like to compare with Catia analysis" for comparison purpose
Make sure the meshes features and material model are identical

the problem with catia is the mesh
I don't think Catia is a good way to perform a FE study

for example you can see the strange result :

how can I check my meshing is good or totally wrong ?
