Getting rid of the shadow!!

Sorry to have such a simple questions, but Im getting so annoyed with the default shadow. How do I get rid of it?

In the 'heads up' toolbar (top-centre of graphics area) there should be a Shadows In Shaded Mode icon. If it is not there, right-click the toolbar and switch it on.

Seems like a shame to lose your shadow after Wendy went through such trouble to sew it back on.
