Geotechnical Considerations for Shoreline Protection

I am currently putting together a request for geotechnical services for a shoreline protection project in south Louisiana. The project is funded through FEMA, and we will be replacing some shoreline protection structures damaged during a hurricane. The State requires we do an alternatives analysis to determine the most cost effective way to replace the damaged structures. WhisprWave(R) structures were originally used, so we will look into using those, as well as rock structures and maybe some type of oyster reef. Can anyone give me some guidance or ideas on some testing, or soil properties I should request for the geotechnical work? Thanks!
