We are working on a couple of intake manifolds, and I was wondering if there was an easy way to generate a core of one of the intake runners. I don't need to generate a pattern from the piece at this time I just want to inspect the outer counters of the intake runner. It is somewhat difficult after lofting and sectioning the part doesn't always work that well.

Perhaps there is a way to generate a negative image as that would work as well.

do a body substract from a solid chunk? (making sure the core volume can't touch the outer volume). Then a "delete body" for the outer volume.

Interesting. I worked a bit on an intake manifold and we STARTED with the runners . . .;-)
