GENERALLY WHAT TYPE OF ISOLATION VALVE USE FOR H202 SERVICE? IN MY PLANT I HAVE SEEN ONLY BALL VLAVES ARE USED FOR ISOLATION PURPOSE,
WHY CAN'T WE USE GATE VALVE FOR ISOLATION? IS THERE ANY PARTICULAR REASON? IF SO EXPLAIN BRIEFLY....THANKS IN ADVANCE

2) No reason I am aware of other than cost, weight and size. Any materials or seals can be used in either case as required by the process fluid.

Gate valves have a tendency to refuse to seal completely in tough services. There are some soft-seat gate valves that do a better job, but mostly the gate rubbing across the seal keeps them from performing as well as a ball valve. Also, in bigger sizes, the work required to open/shut them can get excessive (100+ turns for a 10-inch rising stem valve does not make the specifying engineer the favorite of field guys). Finally, they are pretty expensive to actuate.

Before elastomers developed to make ball valves viable, gate valves were the first choice for most any service. They are still used extensively in steam because people are slow to adopt high-temperature elastomers (and they are still expensive). Since you see mostly ball valves in your facility, I'd guess that that technology is probably best for your service.
