Ok ladies/gentlemen... I need some help here.

I'm looking for either the math that goes with a mechanism (it's called out under geneva gears in the mechanisms book, but I'm told that it may also be a roller-gear-cam system) or some other option that can be packaged into an extremely small space (1-2 cm sqr). (a "jpeg" is available if requested)

The mechanism needs to transfer the force at a 90 degree angle, and must not back-strain the motor when force is applied from the moved surface. It is meant to take the place of the gearing on the end of a small motor. (to give you a perspective, the small motor is 8mm in diameter & ~ 30 mm Lg).

If you know where I could find the math for this, or a substitute mechanism, I'd would very much appreciate it. Any ideas?
