The company I work for is having considerable difficulty solving a peculiar problem with our process. The way our process is designed, a slew of material is to flow up through a cyclone to our dipleg valve. about 99.8% of this material is supposed to be recycled into our reactor and the remainder flows through to our filtration system. With this being said, we use a flow of nitrogen to provide a certain amount of fluidization to the solids flowing up our cyclone. Our problem, lies in when we moved from char to a less dense material(PrB), our dipleg plugs, and we are unable to unplug it without shutting down. We have explored a variety of options, and are very much stuck on this issue as to why it plugs when we switch to freshly catalyzed material. Ive been told this site is a collection of some of the most brilliant minds in the engineering field, so I've come here to ask for some help! Anyone more questions please feel free to ask. ANy help would be IMMENSELY appreciated.
