Can anyone guide me in the right direction here? I've been searching for information and/or details on the installation, sizing and components of gas generator exhaust systems. Any info would be much appreciated.

Cummins has a generator installation manual that is very comprehensive; however, it might be proprietary. The manual is not specific to any model. It is full of helpful installation information that includes exhausts, wall & roof penetrations etc. Perhaps someone will know where to find one. The one I saw a few years ago was part of Cummins selection/installation computer program and was in PDF format.

Also, you could get the installation manual that is specific to your generator set. The manual should have most of the information you require. If you cannot find a good installation manual for your generator set, try to locate a manual for a similarly sized unit from a different manufacturer. The manual should start you in the right direction.

P.S. I looked on the web for the Cummins installation guide and found their web site is password protected where the public does not have access to it.

Design of exhaust system (sizing, configuration etc), as far as I know, is still a matter of expertise rather than straight mechanics. There are two principles that can be adopted , the absorption and the reflection principle. In many mufflers they are both incorporated.

In Greece where I used to work for 2 years in a exhaust system factory, we were more or less self-taught. Try and error method.

I would be happy to help you if you narrow the question.
