Gas dehydration column design

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to design a chlorine gas dehydration column. The modern way to do this is a packed column with high reflux rate of sulfuric acid at the bottom and a bubble cap column on top with fresh sulfuric acid supply (96-98%) from the top. The chlorine gas has to be dried from 2 mol per cent to 20 ppm water. Input chlorine gas is already cooled to about 15-20°C (0.3 bar,g).

I don't simply know where to start. Most people would overdesign.

Problems:
-The vapor pressure of water over sulfuric acid at lower temperatures is negligible. That means the equiblirium line is flat and there is only one theoretical step. You can forget about Eq. Stage models of the common simulators or Henry constants.

-I don't know about any tray efficiency estimation in this field.

-About mass transfer: The absorption process is probably gas diffusion controlled. But I have only read about very complex (stefan-maxwell etc.) models to calculate diffusivities. It could be a Phd-thesis.

-How to calculate the interface area generated in a bubble cap tray?

Any ideas? Rules of thumb? Experiences?
