How do you calculate the fundamental frequency of a residential structure. Where can I find the best information on this subject.

I would think that depends on what "residential" is defined as. Here in the US, residential structures are one, two and sometimes three or more stories. These structures are made from a plethora of materials and or combinations thereof. Though, wood is the most dominant.

Of those affect the natural frequency of a structure including what the lateral resisting system is, which lends to the stiffness part of the analysis. Most are shearwalls but that is not always a given.

Please elaborate more.
