I need some basic general notes for a project with some FRP members. Members are square tube beams and a frp grating. We'll have the FRP contractor design but need some basic structural notes. All items are exterior exposed to snow.

Thank you.

You could start by looking at the specifications in the catalogs of IMCO Reinforced Plastics Inc., Bedford Reinforced Plastics Inc or Creative Pultrusions, Inc. You may also wish to review the recommendations of the Composites Fabricators Association as well.

Why not simply state what you want in terms of chemical resistance and performance. If you are not familiar with FRP products, it is probably not advisable to dictate mechanical properties as you may find there are more economical options available than the ones you specify and if the contractor is doing the design, why not give him the freedom to select the best alternative he has available. Deflection limitations should be in accordance with code, but you don't really care what the yield or the elastic modulus of the product is, or do you?
