Hi

We are looking to join the BIM progress, however we are unsure what is the best solution.

We have spoken to operators, sales people and crunched the numbers.

It's such a huge financial investment.

Advanced Steel is cheaper, however lots of people seem to be using TEKLA.

We are a fabricator, providing PM support and fabrication to structural projects. Producing 3D model and shop dwgs.

I would appreciate hearing your experience of a transition from ProSteel to Tekla or Advanced steel.

Thanks

Kate

Hi,

For structural steel fabrication shop drawings , I will recommend you SDS/2.
I believe the price range is similar to tekla. But SDS/2 design and generate connections automatically.

If you only work with small projects probably the most cost effective is Advance Steel.

Thanks Lucca.

I will look into SDS/2.

What can't you do with ProSteel that you want Tekla or SDS/2 to do? I'm interested in this in particular for bridge elements. Anyway, ProSteel does 3D, IFC-compliant detailing models, what are you expecting from "BIM" that it can't do?
