I'm looking for Freundlich isotherm data for granular activated carbon for volatile organics, especially the lighter liquid hydrocarbons(e.g., n-hexane) that one might find in refinery amine solutions prior to regeneration. Can someone please recommend one or more sources of data? I have some information in hand (from a US Army report, for example) for what may be called environmentally important substances (e.g., benzene) but the list doesn't include species as I've mentioned above. Thanks.

Hey,
I think these kinds of data are not readily available. From whatever you wrote, it looks like you want to use activated carbon for adsorbing the hydrocarbon from amine stream before sending it to the regenerator. I would probably prefer doing my own experiment and get my own data. Probably the best way will be to contact some university lab about the same.
In my research I needed to know the BET surface area and pore size distribution of the synthesized catalyst sample and I used Micrometrics machine for the same. This machine utilized N2 as the adsorbent for getting the equilibrium data. You’ll probably need to have Hexane as adsorbent and activated carbon as the sample. You might also try some research search engines like “ or and try to find some data from research papers. These search engines work similar to any standard web search engine, but you have to have access to them. Any university research lab should have the access to them.
