Our purchasing department wants to view the models I send them.

Rather then purchase additional licenses for SE. Could we specifiy another viewer (cheaper)?

They will be trying to view;
STEP
IGES
X_T

Would love some opinions?!

Hi,

For x_t, the free SE viewer will do. It's on the Solid Edge DVD (Other Solid Edge products).

If you don't want them to be able to open your SE files directly though, tell them to download XpressReview on :
It doesn't work for x_t but it works with the jt format which can embed the parasolid data.

For IGES and STEP, you need something else though.

Try AutoView.
I don't know the costs.

You must be talking about AutoVue by Cymmetrix. At more than $2000, it's not "cheap".

I made a quick search and found Delcam Exchange v5.6. It's a translation tool that allows you to open and convert CAD files in many formats, including IGES, Parasolid, STEP, ACIS v17, even Catia V5, Pro/E, NX5 and more.

What's interesting, it's a free download, and free to view files; you pay to convert files on a pay-per-translation basis.

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.
