I am designing a frost-protected shallow foundation (FPSF) for a detached garage, in accordance with ASCE 32-01. Building will be heated and insulated, with 2" rigid insulation around the perimeter, at the vertical face of the grade beam, and extending out horizontal per ASCE 32-01. The client does not want the sill plate to overhang over the exterior insulation. I'm curious how to detail the foundation insulation at the overhead door. It seems logical to omit the 2" vertical insulation there, as it would get destroyed if exposed. I am instead showing 1/2" expansion material. I have attached a PDF of the typical wall sections. Any suggestions?
