Fouling of boiler heat exchanger surface.

Does anybody have any rough figures on efficiency losses due to heat exchanger fouling in a heavy fuel fired boiler as a function of operating hours?

Can this degradation be partly recovered by cleaning of the exchanger surface during a yearly shutdown?
