Hi all,

I'm looking for a fluid flow meter for high frequency oscillatory flow, with data logging capabilities (preferably using a memory card).

The flow meter is intended for an experimental system as part of a research (biomedical).

A bit of the experimental characteristics:
f[Hz] 8-12
Q[ml/s] 2.5-9.5
Re (reynolds number) 144-2300
D[mm] (tubing) 8

Basically we want to hook up the flow meter to our system and log the flow characteristics for later analysis.

Any leads on a possible company, product line or a specific product will be appreciated.

Thanks,
SD

What fluid are you measuring?

Do you want to measure the oscillatory component, or just the mean flow rate?

Assuming you want the oscillatory measurement, I'd opt to use an orifice meter and a good set of close-coupled pressure transducers.

~You might be better off with some sort of metering pump or moving piston.

those Re no are low so you're into no turbulent flow and probably viscous material?

You can use the thing that creates the oscillations to do the measurement.

Very rapid back and forward flow is not a normal measuring operation so you might need to describe your system a bit more and then think about how you are creating the oscillatory motion.

Is this truly just back and forward the same quantity?
what sort of visocity?
diameter of tubing?
Type of tubing? (Stl stl? ;plastic?)
budget for this?
Pressure?
