I am supposed to calculate the flow of the process fluid through various control valves based on the valve opening. My boss says that the datasheet should be enough to calculate the Cv based on the valve opening which could then be used to calculate the flow. I know how to calculate the flow once I have the Cv but I don't understand how to calculate the Cv for different types of valves. Can you calculate the flow through the valves using just the datasheet numbers??

Please help, I don't know how to do this.

You should. Plot Percent open against CV values and plot the best fit line.

Valve data sheet should tell you is it equal percent or front loaded.

Look up the emerson control valve manual
