Flow calculation 1

We have a discrepancy in the way we are trying to figure the actual flow of a boiler.

The calculation we are presently using is sq root of the differential pressure (inchs of water) * area of the pipe (inchs squared). The calculation doesn't seem right to me.

 
The equasion I think is right is Q=CA * SQRT(2g (P1-P2)/A)

I am unsure how to calculat C (discharge co-efficient)
 
Your formula is an approximation based on the orifice equation. Using actual differential pressure takes the guess work out of knowing coefficients. I would question where you are getting your area from though...You should have the area of the orifice that you are measuring the differential pressure across, not the area of the pipe that you are wanting to know the flow for.
