thread507-197395

I have a question similar to what was spoken about in the previous thread. In AISC DG 11 there is an equation Neff (eqn. 4.7), the number of effective T-beams with three seperate criteria you have to meet in order to use Neff in the calculation of the panel (eqn 4.8). I'm in a similar situation where we have to use long girders and shorter beams for bays and the criteria for joist length^4/ joist transformed moment of inertia has failed.

I have tested this is RAM Floorvibe and you can proceed using an Neff=1. Has anyone ever investigated the use of a value above 1 but below what would be the actual value of Neff? For my situation I obtain an Neff= 2 - 2.5.

Thanks.
