Flexural Resistance Built-up Members

Hello.
I am attempting to analyze a built-up truss member for flexural loading. AASHTO does not provide direct guidance for the flexural resistance of a built-up member in 6.12.2.2 as it does for compressive resistance in 6.9.4.3 for built-up members. I could treat it as a box-shaped member, but I wanted to know if there were any other methods that are used.

The member comprises of single angles with a web plate and battens top and bottom (red lines) at discrete locations.

Yes, what Wiktor linked is the standard reference for this question in the bridge world.

In practice, we found that for most bridges, a suitably small value of "lattice plate thickness" could be assumed for the J calculation rather than calculating it independently for each member, with little error introduced.

It looks as if my battens offer no contribution since they are in the X-X plane as per Figure 3 and Equation 4.
