Hello everybody,

We are designing a duct system for hot gas (400 to 1,100 deg F), and we normally used Flanged Expansion Joints with the same thickness than the duct (1/4") in Carbon Seel construction, now we are planning to use Stainless and we need to made some changes in our standard design.

Does anyone knows a software or worksheet (economical) to verify stresses in this Flanged Expansion Joints, we would also to have recommendations on books and codes than help with the design of this components.

Additionally we are using AUTOPIPE to verify the stresses on the ducts, is anyone familiar or have a suggestion with the values for Axial and Torsional stiffness for Flanged Expansion Joint to use with this software.

Thanks a lot for your help

There is an ASCE book on the design of ductwork for power plants which may be of help.
