I got sucked into an inspection / investigation of an old building that will be renovated.

The original building was constructed around 1870 and there were various renovations and additions around 1900, 1920, and 1970.

The architect is requesting "material of applied fire protection" on the steel framing at various locations.

ASTM standards E736, E605, E759, E760, E761, E859, AND E937 generally deal with the mechanical properties of fireproofing, but are there any standard testing procedures that are intended to determine the component materials of existing fireproofing?
