My vote has always been no hose. I do not even like the 1½" connections.
These were awesome back in the day.. Back when the materials stored had only 4 classes to burn, A,B,C.,etc.
And they were stacked below the now High Piled class.
These station are not meant to fight fire. Maybe dunk some water on an unruly box. That's it.
Second, I have inspected far too may hoses and stations. Let's just say the very presence and condition they are in could get someone killed.
I have nightmares about a firefighter seeing it, and thinking "Great a hose station I can use.."
I actually pulled a brand new 1929 1½" hose, with chrome 2½" connections, from a cabinet in a large high school theater seating area.
I explained to the owner that there is no way this will pass the hydro, let me get you a new one. And Yes, I took that sucker home with me.
