Hello all,

We are building a plumbing assembly for a fuel cell system and we are having a hard time locating most of the tubes we need, especially thin-walled ones.

I've tried many of the companies listed on Thomas Registry, but most of them don’t stock those size and those who do, don’t have wall thickness less than 1/8 inch.

Does anybody have experience with this issue? Any suggestions or recommendations of manufacturers or distributors?

Regards,
Salman
(We are looking for Stainless 304 or AL 6061 tubes with 4.0, 5.0 and 8.0 inch OD with wall thickness around gage 15)

Don't know about 8" but the food industry uses tubing in sizes indicated with pretty thing walls, with high dimensional requirements in most cases.

Food/ dairy / brewery Sanitary piping comes in at least the 4 and 5" sizes...Try TriClover, Crepaco and Bradford.

shows fittings and short pipe sections to 8"

Would belive alloy Aluminum somewhat rarer in thin wall to 8" but REIMELT uses a lot of drawn aluminum through 6"...Not sure about alloy, but basically the pneumatic delivery systems in bakeries for flour and similar done in aluminum largely.

You probably need to look for mechanical tubing. Almost anything in your range is going to be hard to come by at the present time.

If it is possible you should use Sch 5 pipe especially in SS.

I try to find some of my literature on thin wall tubing and pipe.

gharee98,
The pulp and paper industry uses Schedule 125, 16 gauge which would be 0.062" in your sizes. You should consider using pipe OD instead of tube OD, if you need more than a few fittings and valves.
Check for thin wall components.
