when i choose fillet it says to pic first intity that works fine but when i pic second intity the dotted line on the first one changes back to solid and nothing else happens. I am a newby with some acad experiance

Is your fillet radius setting still at the default 0?

Type "F", hit "Enter", Type "R", then input the radius value you want.

Or select the Fillet icon, the type "R" . . . . .
