Hello,

I'm working on a Piping System in British Columbia, Canada that has FRP Flat Face Flanges hooking up to some Metallic Raised Face Flanges. I know that I will need some Filler Rings to fill in the gap between the Flat Face of the FRP flange to the other flange ( which would be the thickness of the Raised Face, 0.06" ).

Question is - What material would be best? I was going for 16 Gauge Steel, which is about 0.0625", but of course I don't want the steel to be so thick that it will prevent a seal! I would go with PTFE Filler rings, but PTFE is fairly expensive and I think it's a bit of Overkill. Has anyone on this forum had experience with purchasing these before, and if they can provide any recommendations?

What I'm specifying is for the bolt holes to match that of B16.5 Flanges, OD of the ring is to match the Flange OD, the inner diameter is to be the Raised Face Diameter plus ~1 mm or so, etc.

Thanks for your help in advance.
