In a particular nozzle, I am joining trn to t with a figure UW-16.1(a) type joint.
At UW-16(b) it states that,
tc = not less than the smaller of 1/4 inch or 0.7 tmin, and
tmin = the smaller of 3/4 inch or the thickness of the thinner part to be joined.
Does it not logically follow that in my case tmin becomes,
tmin = the smaller of 3/4 inch or the thinner of trn or t ?
Also, does it not logically follow via substitution that,
tc = not less than the smaller of 1/4 inch or (0.7)(3/4 inch), or 0.7trn, or 0.7t ?
or expanded,
tc = not less than the smaller of 1/4 inch or 0.525 inch, or 0.7trn, or 0.7t ?
And consequently therefore, in my particular case should I not be able to rewrite the
definition of tc to simply read as:
tc = the smaller of 1/4 inch or 0.7trn or 0.7t ?
