Does anyone know of a reference that tested placing steel tension straps over Fiberboard sheathing for wind uplift in wall panels. These panels are prefabbed, so placing the straps directly to the wood studs is not an option.

I guess nobody likes this idea.

Bob, im my area we don't use fiberboard. The lack of shear strength, and the water resistsiance or the issues with fiberboard. Typically OSB is the sheathing we use.

If your application uses stud straps (like Simpson SP4) the fiberboard should provide adequate bearing surface.

Hey. These guys want it bare bones. The code does allow fiberboard shearwalls believe it or not. I like the idea of the board providing a better thermal break from the outside in winter.

Simpson nor the fiberboard mfr will stand behind installing the straps over the fiberboard. We have other options. This was just the easiest.
