Hey,
I'm trying to create a FEM model in Femap of a wing that has balsa spars, fiberglass skins, a solid foam core, and balsa mounting blocks. Currently, I'm trying to model the foam core and mounting using solid elements, the balsa spars using plates, and the skins using laminate elements.
Anyways, when I mesh my model, I'm having lots of trouble getting my nodes to line up, so I was wondering, is there any good way in Femap to create mesh like this?

Thanks

Dear Huggat,
Please consider to use the simplest elements as possible: use 2-D shell CQUAD4 LAMINATE composite elements for sandwich structure, and CBAR 1-D elements for the rest, you will time later to complicate your life using 3-D HEX elements.
Best regards,
Blas.
