Dear Sirs,

I would like to know exactly (if any)the relationship among the fuel rack index, exhaust gas temp and scavenge air temperature on a 4 stroke marine diesel engine suitable for estimating the power delivered if there is no data from test bench.

Regards,

If given any of that information about an unknown engine, you could not arrive at anything.
You need such things as Bore and Stroke, mean effective pressure, revolutions per minute that you wish to figure the horse power at, and how many cylinders are there.
Those other parameters that you mention may work if someone has compiled operating curves for those.

Don't forget exhaust temperatures...

You can get an upper estimate of power delivered by measuring the fuel flow, without knowing any of that other stuff.

I must have been sleeping. Your right Mike.
Knowing the approximate BSFC helps too. For that calculation.
