Hello there,

Does anyone know of defined limits for cable angles through plastic fairleads? I am looking at 1/8" dia cable with approx 110lbs of tension through it.

If it's not in the FAR's, then it's in AC 43.13-1B. Both are available from the FAA's website.

I'm not sure where or if it's written down anywhere, but for guidance, 3 degrees max change of direction through a fairlead is a pretty commonly-accepted limit it seems. I believe I've also seen that number given on homebuilt inspection criteria lists (for use by the inspectors).

I found the reference in FAR25 and CAR4B, and the angle limit for fairleads is 3 deg. Thanks both of you for your help.
