What does the term "Net" mean exactly in factored net geotechnical resistance? The geotechnical report is stating that the factored geotechnical resistance values given are the "net of the lowest surchange pressure on the soil surrounding the footing".
I don't have much experience dealing with geotechnical reports for use with limit states design.
The factored net geotechnical resistance values seem smaller then I would expect for the description of the soil.
The summary of the factored net geotechnical resistances give the different values for various size footings at the same elevation.
Can someone explain?
Thanks.
