Hi All,
my company is going to up grade the existing facility and new separator is going to be installed in place of existing separator with higher capacity, the problem is being faced is relief line size which is increased to 12" from 6", a Gas flare sketch can be seen in attached file. please be remember no flare stack existing presently and both relief and excessive pressure both are going to BS&W pit.
I want to connect new 12" with 24" line after control valve, as we can't reduce the piping as per codes, can some one comment on this concept and suggest if some thing better I can do.
Thanks

On the info provided,I can't really see what your problem or issue is. You need to recalculate all the piping pressures, flows, forces, etc to handle the increased flow, but from the very small snapshot you've provided there does not seem to be an issue.

I didn't understand your comment "can't reduce the piping as purr codes". Can you elaborate please.

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

Hi,
no flare stack existing and both psv and PCV outlet is going to burning pit, now we are upgrading our vessels with higher capacity, now PSV out size has increased to 12" and existing is 6" only.
my question was, does 12" line can joined with 24" PCV out line which 24"?
Thanks
