F1, seamless gearbox info.

Hello,

I have read about the latest seamless F1 gearboxes with continous power. But I can't find any info, (layouts, sketches) of the concepts.

I have searched with Google, but no luck. Just the basic F1 sites, no real info. Anyone know where to find more info???

Are these dual clutch systems? or just really fast sequentials?

Theroretically I thought that power has to be interrupted for some finite time in a mechanical gear change.

If they're dual clutch then its similar to VW/Audi's I'd guess...

Racecar Engineering and Race Tech have reviewed some of these concepts. You are not likely to find anything more detailed than what has appeared in these two publications.

A few months back a very famous team was using technology related to an early Wiesman concept. To describe it in an oversimplified way...it used one way roller clutches (sprags) in place of the usual side engagemnt for the gears. The gear layout was very neat package and completely unconventional.

I've not heard of any F1 teams using seamless gear changes. But they are pretty quick (we're talking tens of milliseconds max).
