Extruding from complex surfaces

I'm using a student version of Creo Elements pro 1 and I'm having trouble extruding from a surface that has a complex curve. None of the tips I have found work. One recommended to use the boundary blend tool but the one on my software doesn't highlight as one that can be used. Another suggested to use the offset tool and select the draft feature but I dont have that option. Is there another way to create a solid from a surface that is curved on two planes?

Regarding using Offset" and draft tool, the person who told you that might mean you should use "offset with draft" . That is picking the surface - Offset, and under the icon far most to the left you can pick "offset with draft", or "expand" if thats more suitable.

Thanks for the reply tobbo! When I select the offset tool, on the far left it gives me the option to offset it horizontally or perpendicular to the sketch, but there is nothing indicating "offset with draft". It may be because I'm using a student version. I am trying to create a solid between the yellow and red sketches, or something close to that general shape. There should be a way to do this I think.

Why that is easy. I believe the Red Sketch is on a Datum
plane. Extrude the sketch "To Next" or to "Selected
Surface".
Am I missing something?

When I do that it sais feature failed to regenerate.

Ok I got it lol. I had some unwanted geometry in sketch. So small, I hate that, I thought it was because of the curve. Thanks

Yeah, do like Srini says, extrude to the surf instead.


Btw, is this missing in the student edition?

Are you sure? My understanding is that the student
version is the full oat version of Pro/E, all options adn
extensions.

Can you clarify a few things? You say Creo
Elements 1, that doesn't exist. Creo elements is
version 5 only (long stupid marketing story) and Creo has
versions 1 & 2 out. The screenshot above is Creo
Elements Pro 5.0, formally Wildfire 5. There is a
significant difference in the interface.

Also, are you using the extrude feature (insert ->
Extrude in CE5, in the 'Shapes' area of the Model ribbon
in Creo1) or the offset feature (select surface,
edit -> offset in CE5, in the 'Editing' area of the Model
ribbon in Creo1)? The extrude tool must start with a
planar sketch, but can be terminated at a complex
surface. It cannot originate on the complex surface.
There is an offset tool inside sketcher (used in the
extrude feature) that will let you offset edges, is it
possible that you have those confused?]

Yes I'm using Creo Elements Pro 5. I've tried extrudeand the offset feature. I got it to work now though. I originally attempted the extrude to selected surface tool. When it didn't work I thought it was because of the complex surface, but it was because there was some extra geometry in my sketch. Sorry for the mishap there.
