Hi there,

I hope there are someone out there who can help me find a good adhesive tape or instant adhesive that can bond to glass/broken glass.

I am working with screen assemblies on a daily basis and I'm trying to find a adhesive tape that can help easy the repair process of the removal of the broken glass.

The original glass display is bonded with 3M 330LSE adhesive tape to a metal housing and in order to remove the broken glass display that is bonded to the metal housing/frame with the 3M 300LSE, you have to heat the glass and adhesive up to the temp. where the bond weakens.

So what I am looking for is an adhesive tape that is strong enough to bond to the glass surface, withstand the heat resistance of 90C and still have a very strong bonding on the glass in order to remove the broken glass from the housing.

I hope there are someone out there who can help me out.

Yours Sincerely

Emil Damgaard

I had to read your question a number of times to figure out what you are asking. If I understand correctly, you could paint the broken glass with a 2-part (5-minute) epoxy and then embed some fiberglass cloth in the epoxy before it cures. That will stay stuck to the broken glass while you heat it and loosen the 3M adhesive. Fiberglass wallboard joining tape would work.
