Hello everyone,

I am trying to extract the nodal forces at nodes of solid elements in Abaqus (as illustrated below)

I have activated NFORC in the field output and defined freebody cuts to extract the nodal forces
But NFORC seems to return only the residual out-of-balance force in the nodes.

Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Thanking you all in advance.

Regards,

Hi again,

I believe I have just found the solution to my problem.

All I had to do was to go to Results/Field Output/Symbol Variable and then activate FREEBODY

It seems to be working.

Regards,

The NFORC variable gives you internal forces at element nodes that come from the deformation modes. You can test it (along with the freebody cut tool) using simple examples such as uniaxial tension. The values should be correct apart from some small discrepancies. In fact, these outputs are often used to verify the correctness of the results.

Hi,

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer.

Appreciate it!
