EXTERNAL FLOATING ROOF - API 650

Dear All,

On what is the criteria for selecting the type of external floating roof (Single deck or Double deck).
Can anyone suggest me for tank dimension 23(D)m X 30(H)m which type external floating roof is preferable? Single deck or Double deck.?
Also for 72(D)m x 26(H)m tank which one is preferable, Single deck or Double deck?

I have check in API 650, But there is no specific clause for this selection of Single deck external and double deck external floating roof.

The criteria is relevant on many things. The properties of your crude oil is one, is it volatile or waxy? Do you get ccold winters or high solar gain?

Double deck provides better insulation and can provide more flotation if one section is breached compared to pontoons.

There are many locations with both option for the same size tank so no common decisions.
