Extent of NDE

Which clause of AWS D 1.1 specifies the extent of NDE (RT or UT) requirements?


In case of ASME Sec VIII Div 1 or ANSI 31.3 things are clear as to the extent of NDE. Since i am new to this structural aspect could some one clarify the basis of specifying the NDE when AWS D 1.1 is used.

AWS D1.1 does nor specify extent of RT /UT. This shall be specified by the user.

The basic premise of AWS D1.1 is that each weld is subject to visual examination. Any additional NDT must be specified, including the extent of examination. Combination welding / NDT symbols is one method of specifying which joints must be examined using RT/UT/ MT/ or PT. However, all welds must pass visual inspection before addition NDT can be performed.

AWS B1.10 shows wich NDT you can use. I unkown if specifies the extent of NDE
