I'm currently running ACAD 2000 and have just upgraded to ACAD 2000i Land Development. It does not come with express tools, but I'm trying to get it to work with 2000i. When I type "expressmenu" or "expresstools", I get an unknown command.

Any suggestions? I heard that Autodesk is going to start charging for this utility, but I have a copy on my ACAD 2000 installation CD.

The web site forwards me to the Autodesk web site which no longer offers Express Tools for free.

The version of Express Tools that I have is approximately 2.8 Megs, while the web site states that the download is 5.5 Megs. I don't think I have the latest and greatest.

I found it at:

ftp://ftp.mcneel.com/pub/util/et2000.exe

but have problem installing it.
The installation procedure finishes correctly, but there are no Express Menu, and after typing EXPRESSMENU on command line I receive unknown command message.

Any ideas?

If you cannot see the Express menu in the Acad2000 menu bar,
most probably you still have the directory:
\Acad2000\ExpressIf so, then you do have the Express menu file
but it is not visible on the menu bar. You need to load it.

Here is how to load menus from Acad2000 menu:
TOOLS> CUSTOMIZE MENUS > BROWSE >
\Acad2000\Express\Acetmain.mns
LOAD
Then you see it in the menu bar.

If you do not have the said directory, then as experts have commented correctly above, you have to get the directory first.
Then you load the menu.

In Acad14 this (Express) was called Bonus and was small enough to send per e-mail attachment.

Wait - Acad2000\Express\ is not that big:
zipped, 560 kB.
Unzipped, 1.94 mB.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks for an answer, but it still doesn't work.

This ET2000.EXE file I downloaded is about 5.5 MB installation file.

Installation finishes with: "...you will see Express Menu... after starting AutoCAD..."

Installation create Express folder and there are all lisps, arxs... from the express menu.
But, there is no mnu or mns files.

There is an INI file acetmain.ini. Its commentary says:
" This file contains all the information neccessary to build the Express Tools Menu acetmain.mnu and autoloader files".

Can you tell me how to do that?

thanks again
