Exposed rotating knob - safety standards?

We have a situation on our machine whereby there is a knob that will rotate slowly while the machine is running. The knob is accessibly by the operator. I want the knob to be safe – not able to catch your clothing and no handle sticking out to cause injury. Is there a standard for such a knob? Does OSHA have any guidelines for such a knob?

The knob would fall under OSHA's general machine guarding rules (29 CFR 1910.212) as well as the general duty clause. Basically if you have something that moves and can be in contact with the operator or someone else in the area, it has to be guarded.
