Hi Folks,

I just had someone ask me what I think is a really good question. If you're trying to export/save as a SW assembly file to Pro Engineer format, is it also necessary to go through and export/save as every constituent part/sub-assembly as well to send along with the top-level assembly file? I.e. the same as we'd have to do in SolidWorks for someone to view our assembly.

I was talking to a couple of guys and they seemed to think that the part info gets rolled up into the export file. I'm hoping someone can either confirm this or enlighten me a bit as to what happens in this scenario.

Thanks,

The parts are automatically created when "Save as" Pro-E Assy (*.asm) format is used. You do NOT need to save the part files individually.

All parts are created as separate files.
ie. They are not "rolled up" into one file for export.

Also, note that mates are not re-created when the Pro/E assy is opened in either Pro/E or SW.
