Dear Experts,

I would like to know if any one has experimental data of stresses/strain developed in piping system due to loads, expansion etc. The measurement of stress/strain usually done with the help of strain gauge. I am looking for typically stresses in the piping at pump nozzle. This is required as reference in my Masters Engineering Project.

Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

Best Regards,

Tell us where you have researched (your literature searches), first. That way:

1) We can tell whether you have made a bona fide effort yourself.
2) We don't waste effort duplicating your efforts.

TGS4, Thank you for the reply.
I have gone through book of Sam Kannappan, M W Kellogg, Peng. I have also gone through various latest papers related to subject.
As per my knowledge M W Kellogg book has one chapter in which experimental validation is being explained. However, that was need of time as the subject was in the developing phase. Anidya Bhattacharya has published papers on SIF calculations for the arrangements/configurations not covered by ASME B31.3. There was a paper "Experimental and analytical study of thermal stress during pipe freezing" in which limitation of measurement of stresses with strain gauge was highlighted due to cyclic freezing cycles.
My project is on stress analysis of pump piping in which validation with experimental means is the requirement of university. So I am hunting any experimental work already made on this subject.

Thanks again for your interest.

Best Regards,
Suyog Bhave
