We are reducing the span of an steel joist and need to cut the joist. How can we design a new bearing seat for the joist?

Run a pair of web members to the new seat location, one at 45 degree and one at 30 degree. Double the top chord area by welding a duplicate of what is used as a top chord and provide 5"-6" of bearing area for the new end. Calculate the bearing pressure under the joist end.
