Hey All,

Has anybody using SW2005 gotten the "Exclude from BOM" to work. We have tried it on a couple different workstations to no avail. We are using an excel BOM and we are on SP 4.0.
I searched and found thread559-102859 which refers to SW 2004 and is no help in finding a solution. We need to be able to exclude certain instances of hardware from our BOM for certain sales options and have the BOM reflect the changes correctly, as of now you check the box for "Exclude from BOM" and rebuild the drawing and no change has taken affect on the BOM.

Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Another solution, try clicking on BOM, "BOM contents", click on part icon next to part in list. It will remove from BOM on dwg. Don't know if this works the same for Excel BOM's.
Hope this helps.

That will work if we wanted to remove the entire line. What we need to do is remove some hardware qty's from the BOM that are there for visual purposes only and leave the remaining hardware to be counted in the BOM.

Could you not use configurations of the assy?

Scorch,

The Exclude from BOM only works with the SW BOM, not the Excel BOM. The only way I know to exclude items from the Excel BOM is to suppress the items you don't want.

In the Excel BOM, I believe you can Hide the unwanted rows using the standard Excel commands.

CBL,
We are using a configuration already. We have our main assy with a sales option in a configuration. Our main assy already has it BOM and is correct, the main assy also needs to be shown in the options config to show mounting and orientation of components and hardware. Since the main assy is accounted for in its own BOM we need to exclude it from the sales option configuration BOM but keep it visible.

Hopefully this makes sense.

As mncad said "Exclude from BOM" works with SW BOM only. To hide components from the Excel BOM you have to, if the BOM already exists, right click on the BOM, go to Properties, click on Contents tab and uncheck the check mark for the parts to be not shown.

When you create a new BOM you can also go to Contents tab and uncheck the hidden lines before clicking OK to generate the BOM.

Hope this helps,

Andrew
