I'm currently designing reinforced concrete struecture with viscoelastic dampers using nonlinear direct integration analysis for my thesis, i have a problem about convergence, i,m using hiber-hughes taylor for time integration and i already try using alpha = 0 or -1/3 but still can't converged, before i did the direct integration analysis i already used fast nonlinear analysis (FNA) without any structural member hinge and the only nonlinear behaviour is the link as represent the VDED. i already tried nonlinear direct integration but only beam using hinge and it can converged but when i try using both beam and column hinges it cant converged, so i think the problem is in the column hinges. so i checked many times i dont think there is a problem in there too. i'm using hinges from ASCE 41-17 in chapter 10 and the Mu/my got from XTRACT. can anybody tell me where did i do worng? where should i checked first?
